We are trawling the Interwebs gathering information about NZ LAN events, so don’t worry we will be posting more information soon.

Open Question to EA and DICE

Greetings,

I’ve been a Battlefield fan for years, but of late the direction of Battlefield has confused me.

Both Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield 2 were huge games in the LAN Gaming/Event community, with some LAN’s running multiple BF2 servers for attendee’s to use.

But with the arrival of BC2 and now BF3 you have done away with Dedicated Server files and therefore snubbed the LAN Gaming/Event community, Could you please explain why this was done and why LAN Event Admins and organizers can no longer get access to these files?

In New Zealand alot of LAN events don’t have large scale Internet connections, especially the small LAN events, because of two main reasons, the cost and venue location. So getting people to connect from a LAN to a gameserver hosted online is pointless and extremely expensive.

Can you please explain this?

NZLAN’s to stay after massive support from community.

Friends,

I’d like to take the time to thank all of you for your offers of support towards NZLAN’s.

We have had alot of different offers of support and even some offers to buy the site. At present I’m looking into all the options and will announce NZLAN’s intentions soon. But I am glade to say that the site will stay open, but in what format and with who running it, I’m not sure at present.

Again thank you to all those who have offered their support.

NZlan’s to close

Friends,

It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to close down the site. NZLAN’s has been operational for nearly two years, and due to the time, work and cost required to continually update and maintain the site, we felt that it was best to close the site.  We haven’t taken this action lightly, but many of us don’t have the time to continue to monitor more than 30 events nationwide, almost weekly.

To those who have welcomed NZLAN’s with open arms, I would like to thank you for your support, you know who you are. To those of you who haven’t? you have missed out.

Cheers

Charles aka NZLAN’s Admin.

Breaking News! L3 Back online!!

We’re back! I’ve been really itching for a lan for quite a while now! Power, water and net have all been restored to the venue. Looks like some pretty decent games have been released quite a while back and it’ll be great to thrash them with everyone.

I’m going to be capping the numbers to 60 people in the building this lan, so first come first serve!

Hope to see you all there.

- James
